Ramping up to Commute by Bike

Well, I'm ramping up to start commuting to work via bike.  Actually, I'll be taking a shuttle in the AM and then biking home in the PM (so that I don't stank up the office).  Yesterday Ngan hauled me and my bike to the office and I went for a test ride (thanks babe).  It was tough.  It took me about 1:04 to travel ~15 miles.  I was just proud of myself that I completed it.

Also, it was pretty dark outside so I got to test out my lights (I have the Planetbike Blaze blinky and the Beamer 3;  just placed an order for the Blaze headlight instead, so waiting on that).  Ngan said my blink red light was super bright and highly visible.  So that's reassuring. 

I'm waiting on my Kryptonite Evolution Mini U-lock to arrive, but other than that I think I should be ready to commute starting next week?  I don't really need the lock, but wanted to have it just in case (I can just bring my bike up to my office).

So some may be wondering why I want to commute by bike.  Well, I figure it will be good exercise and I can do my part to preserve the environment.  Plus, it's just something to do.  And I like to do things..  Sometimes.

I Miss My Mom

So, I spent the past weekend helping my mom move out of my place into her own (just wanted to create a brief post, now that things have settled down). She had accumulated quite of few things since moving to CA (she is known to be a bit of a pack-rat, as am I).

The biggest thing was a couch (the most comfortable couch in the entire world, mind you, that I was happy to give to her). I just rented a U-Haul and moved everything by myself. We also bought a few heavy items (e.g. tv, tv stand, dining table), which I also moved all by myself.

My place feels empty without her. Fortunately, I've been spending a lot of time at her place helping set things up. And although we have to make more effort to spend time with each other, it seems like the time is of better quality.

Anyway, without sounding too cheesy...I miss her already.

Blogging for Ngan

According to my recent poll, I had one person think I should take a vacation (which I plan to do so, sometime soon -- and regularly going forward).  This one person I suspect is Ngan (thanks).  I'm not suprised that nobody reads my blog, except for the one.  My current use case for blogging supports a recent interesting conversation regarding the various audiences for a blogger.  In my case, my audience is of one.  I talk to her everyday, and we sometimes exchange emails, and passively send each other messages via Twitter.  
Recently, blogging has become another form of communication between us.  Sometimes passive, sometimes aggressive..  ;)  Also, commenting has been another way we communicate.  It's fun.

Anyway, going forward, not sure how my blogging will evolve.  Right now I'm happy to blog to Ngan.  I think soon this will extend to my family (but my closest relative -- my mom -- is not so computer saavy, and I'm not sure I even want her to read my blog).  Oh well..  We'll see.  I guess for me to evolve as a blogger, I just need to keep blogging regularly (pertains to exercise and eating healthy.. so I've got a few things on my plate).

Is it that hard?

Getting frustrated lately, wondering if it's that hard or if it means something more..  Wondering if it means she just doesn't care about me enough, or even at all.  You can only tell a person so much that something bothers you.  You can only give a person so many chances to fix it.  You can only hope so much..  Until that hope is gone, and you start to question just how much does that person really care..

Long time..

Haven't posted anything for some time. Most of my posts have been picture. Anyway, just wanted to put something down. Hopefully I can pick up the habit to post some more. I like how Ngan has been posting her daily activities.. Although my posts would be rather boring like:

Woke up. Went to work. Went home. Slept..

Really need to do something to post about (it's easier to Twitter, cause then I can just complain).. Heh. ;)

Was thinking about buying a screen protector for my new iPhone.. But after seeing this site and watching the videos, looks like screen protection isn't really necessary (warning, as one reviewer mentioned, some of the tests may make you cry). ;)
